Sometimes Love Needs Help
Are you looking at this page because you could use some help? You wanted to bring a child into your life and give them the love and bonding they were not blessed to have without you; to bring the deep values that give your life meaning into your home. Yet, unfortunately, for some children who were emotionally traumatized in their early pre-adoptive life, their traumas come with them into your home. What do you do when the love you counted on is not enough? Do you have moments when you feel as if you are lost in confusion, heartbreak, or God forbid, anger? Better Minds Group is here to help.
Amy Davis, MA, brings deep understanding because she has walked this path. Amy worked in the adoption field, for several agencies for several years, before she and her husband felt ready to add two adoptive children into their family. They soon found that their experiences of having biological children, and Amy’s professional experience, did not easily translate to the extraordinary challenges of welcoming a challenged child to their family. Amy went to work. She redoubled her professional training. She gained an advanced degree, trained in EMDR, and joined Better Minds Group to offer NeurOptimal Neurofeedback. Amy’s focus is to effectively help adoptive children, their adoptive parents, and adoptees of all ages lead better, fuller, lives. Amy brings strong faith, experience, knowledge, compassion, empathy, and a loving toughness, to help heal trauma, and make families a safe place for everyone.
